Nothing yet, but if they start copying now, they should be on Ebay China in a year or so. :)

    erco,
As Sir Henry said of a hang glider passing over his mansion "Seems as good a way to commit suicide as any". Before taking the blighter down with his shot gun.
Seems the YouTube links work just fine. One of the few things that do around here:
  • I'd fly a lawn chair and helium balloons before this.
  • I'd fly a lawn chair and helium balloons before this.

Don't forget your BB gun! :)

  • Given the quality of chinese merchandise, this sounds like a real life version of "You Bet Your Life".

    That's the best part!
  • On the chair you also need to provide for at least 20kg of releasable ballast like sand, so you can compensate for being too enthusiastic with the BB gun.  None of the guys (it's always guys innit?) who have done this seem to have bothered to learn anything about ballooning.

A long time ago I did get a wonderful 4 hour ride in a hot air balloon, with multiple landings and interaction with the fans of the hot air balloon race we were shadowing.  (I was riding a large beer company's promotional balloon which wasn't in the competition.)  There is absolutely nothing quite like ballooning.  It doesn't feel like flying at all, because you don't feel the wind; the wind carries you.  But controlling altitude, and controlling direction by picking the altitude with the right wind, take some skill.

Yup, balloons are very cool. I've ridden in three balloons and a Goodyear blimp (even logged 5 minutes in the pilot's seat). I have a standing invitation for a ride in a Zeppelin NT whenever I can get back to Germany.

Surely lessons have been learned and hardware has improved since this reluctant Japanese pilot took wing!
