Forum Issue: Another thread sunk before its time?

I added a comment to this thread:
http://forums.parallax.com/discussion/161540/new-forum-issue-body-is-too-long-posts
But it did not rise to the top of the discussion list. This is too bad, since I've found a legitimate reason to re-open the discussion.
Again, I would urge the admins not to use thread-sinking at all; but if you must, do it in the open with a post explaining your reasons. And please, just because you think an issue might be closed, there may very well be good reasons to keep it open.
Thanks, -Phil

If it's going to be done, I agree with Phil and others that at the bare minimum a notice of a thread's sunk status should be issued.
IMO, this thread sinking addition is by far the most negative aspect of the new forum.
Such is the capricious power. In order to maintain the equilibrium of the parallel universe, I'm going to scuttle this thread instead, har har.

Body length is set at 15000 characters. Please attach long code as a file, post snippets of necessary areas to illustrate the issue you are having or drawing attention to.

Here are two threads I'm aware of being sunk.
The previously sunk thread has been sunk again.

And this one:

I don't think it bothers me that either of these threads have been sunk; what bothers me is there's no notice of the thread's sunk status.
All this sinking is making me feel like abandoning ship.
