Howdy,
I would like to solder a 4pin socket to the 4 GND fields that are remaining empty on the left side of the board:
However, I am bit afraid what could happen if I will not solder the socket perfectly (some tin will touch the light-blue area) ? Will it be fine ?

Here's a picture of my so so soldering job.
As Phil mentioned, the surrounding copper is also ground so you're not in danger of causing a short when adding extra ground headers. Shorting to the copper can be a problem when soldering to other pins. I've had this happen a couple of times but my solder joints were pretty messy when these shorts occurred and they always occurred when I was adding a wire to underside of the board.
Try to make your solder joints look like the joints marked with a green check. The joints marked with a red x still work but they're not likely to be as reliable (and they look bad).
