However, links to news sites with a ton of auto playing advertising videos is a real pain.
technology increases, it is only logical that the new generation will incorporate
coding as a "second" language. The basic stamp is my all time favorite, and I would be
happy to see it taught as a standard project in the classroom. Parallax is awesome!
Yeah. That's what we thought back in 1980! And what Allen Kay thought some years before that.
Kids were all over their C64's and Sinclair Spectrums at the time. Many of them grew up to have notable careers in software engineering and such. Institutions like the BBC were much into bringing computing and programming to the young.
Then it all went dead for a few decades. As we got overrun by easy to use Windows and Mac computers. Then games consoles. Then smart phones and tabs. Games and social media were in, actually thinking about how these machines were created and worked was out.
Projects like the Raspberry Pi were born out of this idea to get kids off ready made solutions and stimulate their curiosity about programming.
I love it that Parallax is, and always has been, tackling the problem at the lower level of micro-controllers and real world interfacing.
They have a bit of a challenge now as the Arduino now dominates the landscape that the STAMPs occupied.
