    Yes: every time you view the thread it will go to the first new post for you. Notice the #latest anchor in the URL. This feature is automatic and can't be turned off.

    Thanks, it works, but only once I have visited the thread in the new forum.  So new question, how to I mark this as "solved"?

    Yes, the #latest is only half-working, & needs fixing.One has to wonder just how little time was spent on testing this ?

    It goes to #latest, the problem I noticed in another thread is that if the first post is edited then #latest points *there* instead of at the end of the thread. That made an 11-page thread unreadable, the edit of the first post basically set the whole thread to 'unread'.
