Question About Fritzing Program

I know, this is a Parallax forum. However, I am not getting a response from the Fritzing people. I just have a quick question. Is the program suppose to be somewhat like a simulator? I tried to light a simple LED by connecting to a battery but nothing happened. I am curious if the LED is supposed to "Light up" when power is applied to it. I see there is a spot for code so I am wondering why would it have a spot for code if it does not run like a simulator???

And which version is this one? I'm not sure if I have it installed. Last Spring the system and I agreed to reinstall gigabytes of stuff.
What bothers me more as displayed in earlier threads, there is indeed a BS2 icon and probably one for the Prop1 but, ah, no sign of the available boards. There are boards for the others of course.....
"Does Fritzing simulate my circuit? (a.k.a. Where is the play button?)
No, sorry. "
I think there may be some add-ons that perform rudimentary simulations using certain components, but it's not part of the Fritzing package. It's intended to help you document the circuit in both schematic and visual breadboard form, and should you wish, to lay out circuit boards.
EDIT: I just read about the update. Apparently the Code view is so you can write your code in Fritzing and save the code and the schematic in the same place. Can only be done for Arduino or PICAXE but you can add your own if your program supports command line editing.
So, Is anyone aware of a free simulator to use with an UNO?
The Atmel chip on the Uno is fairly hardy. Unless you connect your refrigerator to it, I think you'll be okay. If you're worried about pulling too much current on a pin, you can always add a 1K resistor in series, even though the pins have protection already on them. There ARE pins that, if connected incorrectly, will ruin your Arduino, but most people never use them. One is labeled ARef, and the other Gnd. (I'm kidding about the second one!).
BTW, Fritz doesn't like this any better than you do.
Sadly, during the Fritz Blitz.
And now, back to our regularly scheduled thread, currently in progress.
Great! The Fritzing program sounded interesting but I have no idea what the discussion of Fritz being dead refers to. :-)
Me neither. All I can figure is maybe they're referring to the 'Fritz the Cat' comic strip and books, wherein Fritz (who is a cat) dies at one point.
I mean, for most people here, the comics (not even the movie, where Fritz lives), it's a pretty obscure reference. I guess that's why they call him Er 'Captain Obtuse' Co.
If you get a chance to watch the entire movie it is an all time classic with the absolute best ending I have ever seen!!!!
I think they killed Kenny.
In a running gag most prevalent during the first five seasons of the series, Kenny would suffer an excruciating death before returning alive and well in the next episode with little or no definitive explanation given. Stan would frequently use the catchphrase "Oh my God! They killed Kenny!"
They're not free but there are a lot of UNO clones which will simulate the behavior of an UNO. (Okay, it's not what you had in mind but I don't think I'm in danger of causing this thread to wander off topic.)
Speaking of wandering. . .
When I typed in "uno clone" to ebay's search here's one of the results.
I guess it's okay to say "UNO" as long as it doesn't also say "Arduino"?
Wowzers! I would have thought EVERYONE has seen South Park, whether they wanted to or not, and would know the 'They killed Kenny!' running gag. Sorry to say I wasn't hip enough to get the Fritz reference. (I also don't like the voice recording in that clip, but that's just because I've sat through endless hours on a recording stage. They're too closely miked, IMO.)
