... erco is right!

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG WITHOUT A CONTEST!

But now is not the time to give YOU *stuff*...It's time for US TO HELP TO THOSE IN NEED - YES! It's another IFM (Interfaith Food Ministry) Charitable Auction!!!

So I'm gonna dig deep into the bowels of Parallax this week and ferret out all the dusty old (but still serviceable) COOL STUFF I can find!

UPDATE: NEW START DATE: Friday the 1st of May

Last year, ERCO was the high bidder, but I expect that many of you don't want ERCO to have all the fun with all the goodies for two years in a row, do you?

I can't promise anything in particular, but feel free to give us suggestions on what you'd like to bid on! :D

    I've been waiting for one of these!

    Matt, I have a BASIC Stamp (#BS2-IC) and Carrier Board (#27120) I will let you put on the auction block. You play auctioneer and get the highest bid and I'll ship it some place in the US (you tell me where to ship)!!

    I'll go digging in the bowels (eewww!) --- deep dark recesses of my goodie cabinet for more.

    Matt you must be in a lot of pain, Erco is right all the time. We'll have to help you out, we'll get you through this. Thanks to anti-static bag technology dust is not an issue. I'm ready to paste my shipping address. I recommend blindly grabbing a bunch of stock and throwing it in a box, or a bin, actually a pallet would be the best way to go. The shipping rates are more efficient. I'll check in again for your reply asap.

    I could really use a humidity sensor too.

    Can you remind us how this works? It sounds like Parallax puts some stuff up for auction and others add on their own contributions? Is each item auctioned off individually or does everything go to one high bidder? I'm sure I have all kinds of stuff I can contribute.

    Last year, I think there were some side auctions run by the donors with the proceeds going to IFM. I felt too lazy to moderate an auction this year, so I thought I'd let a professional like Matt run the auction and just let me know where to send the item once there was a winner. Let's call it eMatt or MattBay! :D

    (maybe we tossed everything into one big box....I don't remember, it was a year or so ago!!! My NVRAM is shrinking daily!)

    You bet...

    Basically Parallax puts up a pile of really cool things (TBD as yet) to bid on.
    You bid in a Parallax Forum based auction. (We'll have a real-live auctioneer and fund-raising event at the IFM facility a week from this coming Saturday - see below).

    The Winning Bidder writes a check payable to IFM (or online - your choice). Parallax ships you the prize package. None of your dollars go through us - it's a direct donation straight from you to IFM.

    We're just providing a "thank you gift" for you'all supporting the incredibly wonderful volunteers at IFM

    Check them out - they're as legit as they come. http://www.interfaithfoodministry.org/ ...and check out their financials...pretty amazing!

    The current president - Sue is a good friend of mine. She and the volunteer staff have an amazing heart for those who are going through tough times...

    Parallax gets nothing out of this - we just give away some stuff by shipping it to those of you who are the winning bidder(s).

    We've decided to have this Parallax online auction coincide with the actual live auction (that I'll be working) on Saturday, May 2 @ 6:00pm. I'm doing the live A/V stuff, and I'll try to be "broadcasting live" (sorta) on these Forums that night, just in case any of you want to "listen" in.

    MORE DETAILS TO COME, but note that we're not starting OUR ONLINE AUCTION HERE UNTIL NEXT FRIDAY, THE FIRST OF MAY.and it'll run through until probably Monday at noon or so.

    It's for a good cause and Parallax gets to clean out our closet a little bit :D

    Thanks Matt. So it sounds like all of the stuff being auctioned comes from Parallax. You're not solliciting donations of equipment from forum members.

    Ok.. this has caught my interest.. Are you saying it possible to send items to Parallax for this auction to sweeten the pile even more?
