It Sure Would Be Nice To Have A C Snippet Area For The Propeller :)

As I was sitting here working on a section of code, I thought to myself, I bet the C newbies could appreciate this snippet. Even seasoned programmers need good snippets just to save time.

Maybe if we yell loud enough, perhaps we can get a spot :)

If you build it, they will come. Set something up on pasrebin.com, put some snippets in it, socialize it, invite people to join you and see if it takes off.
(Ok, it looks like you need to do a bit more than build it! :D )

I'm still hesitating to go the C route for my project simply because Spin has the Object Exchange.

I've done my own version of that here. The majority is of course PropWare, but there are a number of non-propware related examples too. I'd be happy to host your own examples if you'd like. Or, if something else is started, I'd love to submit my examples to help it get off the ground.

What specific snippet were you looking at that made you want to post about it?

Dave Hein posted a nice snippet yesterday and then I was working on the SD card reading example, but more specifically, many C items will be Propeller specific and it would be nice to have a place to look stuff up besides the learn website.

Not all the code on the object exchange is written in Spin. If you sort by language you will find 11 items written in C. That is a small number, but there already is a place for posting snippets of C code for the propeller.

Once upon a time there was http://propeller.wikispaces.com/...
Maybe having something wikilike wouldn't be too bad.
Stackexchange's style of doing such stuff is very interesting: Maybe it can be seen as a hybrid of wiki and forum. Every member (with enough reputation) can edit questions and answers but the normal workflow is to improve others' questions or answers (typos, formatting help, ...) instead of hijacking them and to add own answers. This avoids the thousands of repeating answers with fragments of informations because present information is improved instead of adding isolated new fragments.
I'm not familiar with administrative things of Stackexchange and how to set up a Propeller specific site there and probably it will be different if Parallax would act as owner.
If just a group of Propeller geeks wants such a site, it has to be defined and discussed in http://area51.stackexchange.com/.
That might be more than just a snippet discussion area...
