"BQ’s CEO, Alberto Mendez, has built a robot kit for kids that enables them, for under $100, to create their own robot using drag-and-drop programming - and it’s all open source."

My kind of CEO! Bot is very well done, a great use of 4 servos and something else that thumps halfway through the demo. Very unusual walking action at 2:00. I will have to build one like this.

Pretty sure that is just the robot's feet clacking against the tabletop.

Just when you think everyone has discovered all there is to know, somebody does something creative and different.

This is indeed something new. I want one.

Really nicely done. I haven't seen the appeal of walking robots before this, but that was really cute.

I like those "slick moves". I think it is a 5DOF (servos).

Edit: Starting @ about 1min5sec in the video is why I think it is 5DOF.

It is a smooth coordinated movement but I don't see the 5th DoF.

I had noticed the blockhead rotating at the same time as the legs were turning and the feet moving. However they did it, it has some slick moves!

I count 2 ankle servos and 2 hip servos. For most of those motions, the two hip servos are in sync and I think you could eliminate one servo by gearing them to rotate together. Could be an awesome 3 servo bot.

BTW, this is not BQ's first rodeo: http://www.bq.com/gb/products/kit-robotica.html
