That sad news matches the gloomy weather in Los Angeles today. RIP, Mr. Nimoy.

He will be truly missed. And not just as Spock. "In Search Of..." was one of my favorite television shows as a child. Anyone else remember that? If Leonard Nimoy said it, no matter how outlandish it might be, I'd believe it just might, possibly, be true...or at least worth investigating.

It is indeed sad. This morning I played my CD of Mr. Spock's Music from Outer Space in honor of this terrific actor.

It's doubly sad that his death was the result of COPD, from many years of very heavy smoking. He quit some years back, and I understand also talked William Shatner into quitting. (Understand that until the 60s or 70s,most adults smoked. Actors were often asked to smoke onscreen in character. It helped sell cigarettes, which were advertised on TV until 1971. Dirty business that.). I understand in recent months he made it a point to warn others, including his legion of fans, about the dangers of smoking.

I met his son, Adam, a few years back. He's a neat guy, too. Must run in the family.

Sad news indeed. Nimoy was a very likeable fellow and an icon in his own right.

I hadn't seen his "Bilbo Baggins" video previously. IMO that was more forgivable than William Shatner's more contemporary musical "stylings". Now I love Ben Folds, I just I prefer him as the front man instead of backup.

I never paid much attention to the Bilbo Baggins track; Everyone knows Leonard Nimoy is no great singer, but it doesn't matter. You bought his albums because you were a fan of Spock. (That, and the retro lounge arrangements of Chuck Grean).

Both Nimoy and Shatner were born too early. With an Auto-tune and other typical sound augmentation of today, they'd sound just as good as Justin Bieber. No, make that better!

Live Long And Prosper. In other words, living well is the best revenge. Don't get angry, get on with living.

What Lenoard Nemoy really taught me is that logic and ideals alone were absurdity. Accept being human, and being one amongst many. Also, don't get fat like William Shatner :) (You will look terrible in uniform.)

Here's the very first episode of Star trek which aired: http://www.hulu.com/watch/283824

    And a review: https://tv.yahoo.com/news/star-trek-first-aired-episode-thrs-1966-review-050006449.html

I like early episodes of any series, to see how the characters develop. In this first episode, you see Spock before Kirk.

McCoy says "He's dead Jim" just 8-1/2 minutes into the series!

And the redshirt guy (killed-off character) is wearing blue!
