Only recently have people like HP have claimed to have made memrsitors and that they may be in production "real soon". Some claim their device is not a memristor, some claim that it is. I have no idea.
Seems that memristance, M, is defined as M = dΦ / dq. In the manner that resistance, R, is defined as R = dV / dI
Or rate of change of magnetic flux with charge as opposed to rate of change of voltage with current.
It's not clear to me how that leads to any kind of memory device. Anymore than a resistor, capacitor or inductor are. Well, except that a capacitor does store charge and can be used as a memory. An inductor also stores magnetic field and will make a memory when built with super conductors.
