The OBEX needs a few more features before it's ready for prime time, and one of them is better searches. There is a bit of C code in there, but not much. Personally, I don't feel at all left out for not using the OBEX. I prefer GitHub anyway.
And you can often find C (and other language) code downloads for many of the products sold in the Parallax Webstore if you click on the "Downloads and Documentation" section of a product page.
