Scientists have created a robot that "thinks" and acts like a worm after inserting software modeled on the neural connections in a worm's brain inside a Lego robot. WSJ's Monika Auger reports.

I seem to recall that back in the 1970's Wireless World magazine published an article an article on a "cybernetic snail" that seem to have similar behavior to this worm brain.

That snail was built using only transistors resistors and capacitors. Charge on capacitors would act as its memory. Total development cost, a few dollars.
