Unable to Post New Blog Entries

I am unable to post to my blog, and I do not even have a link for adding a new blog entry at the top of my sidebar. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I need to do? I was previously successful with blog entries, but suddenly this all changed for no obvious reason to me. Thank you for your assistance.

    George,

Blog entries are down while the new forum software is being resolved.

Spams were a big problem in the past, and I think Parallax is working on the problem.

Blogs will not be a feature of the new forums after the upgrade.

Contact webmaster@parallax.com if you'd like to recover any past blog entries you made on the current forums.

    Bummer :(

I guess there is no way to archive the old blogs to download?

Currently there is no plan to archive blog content for viewing in the new forum.

Bump included this information in his upgrade announcement back in November: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/158158-Forums-Upgrade-Update?highlight=forum+upgrade
    Blogs -
We’re parting with the blogs on the forums. It was a great concept when we first decided to roll out with the blogs, but honestly there are so many other options with greater distribution and features for managing a blog-style site. We’ve seen a few members of this community launch new blogs, new sites, and participate in other site’s articles to get the word about Parallax into the public eye. We appreciate and encourage this type of behavior; it is great not only for us and for yourself, but also for the technical community when more interest is generated about electronics in general. It is with this in mind, and the very closed nature of our blogs, that they being discontinued moving forward.

If you have a blog on our forum, and wish for assistance in getting a copy of this information, please send an email to webmaster@parallax.com. We will assist in retrieving this text for you.

Thanks, Courtney, for that official announcement. I missed that one. Shame on me for missing it. :(

If you do not login under a username, the blogs are still visible.

If you have a blog, you may be able to copy the content.

Thank you for the information. I for one do not like the idea of doing away with the blogs. It will certainly encourage myself and others to devote even more time to other sites, and that is unfortunate. I do understand that it is a big and costly effort to maintain a blog site, but it sure is a convenient medium for customers to display another facet of their Parallax projects and related interests. That is, after all, one of the big reasons for having and using a blog in the first place, at least for me. Thank you.

    George,

I hear ya'. I think the maintenance issues where the cause of the demise of blogs. I would spend an hour every morning deleting Spam blogs and banning those users, sometime 20 or so. And some where not the kind of content that belongs on the forum.

I hope you do stick around the forums.

I was almost unaware that there were blogs on this site. Until people started complaining they don't work.

I don't recall ever reading a blog here and people never link to their blog creations so I would never find myself there.

There are so many places at which you can set up a blog that it makes little sense for Parallax to be running a blogging platform. Heck, set one up for yourself on a cloud server with Google or azure or whatever. Or set one up on your own machine at home, like my humble effort. http://the.linuxd.org/.

I'm not sure why posting blog entries to a non-Parallax blog site would detract from ones time here. Blogging is blogging no matter where it is.

    @Heater,

If you access the forums without logging in, you can see the Blogs off the main page. There are over 300 Blogs, many interesting. some not.

I just gave your your weekend homework assignment. :)

    Publison,

Thank you. Sadly my weekend is fully booked with panic work for work, as it were. Although I'm sure I will find time to continue my normal ramblings here.

I pretty much don't read anything, on line or otherwise, unless someone shoves it in my face and says "read this it might be helpful/interesting". So that means at least a link on whatever page I happen to be reading on the web. Amazingly I don't recall ever reading a forum post that linked to a Parallax blog. Why is that?

I will not be leaving the forums, as they are a must-have and a daily stop for me. And I do appreciate the effort that you and the others put into the forums (and also into the blogs, by the way). I can't do without all the expert and helpful information that I have access to here. And I thank all of the regular contributors for what they offer to these forum queries and responses.

P.S.: I also have an office in Nashville... small world!
