I just tried installing Propelleride on Raspbian and when started, I get this error:
pi@pi-desk ~ $ propelleride
propelleride: error while loading shared libraries: libGLESv2.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
pi@pi-desk ~ $
I proceeded to install libgles2: sudo apt-get install libgles2
Next try, I get this:
pi@pi-desk ~ $ propelleride
This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb".
Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, wayland-brcm, wayland-egl, wayland, xcb.
Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

At this point, I'm at a loss as to what to try next.
I had used the QT5 install that Heater had pointed out in post#126.
The SimpleIDE install I had done just before ProepllerIDE is working fine. By the way, it is loading a Quickstart connected to a USB port without any problem at this point.
Any thoughts on where to go with PropellerIDE at this point?
I love the look of the new IDE, especially the ability to jump to any method in the whole project from the side panel. I'm running the IDE on a MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.5. I run the old IDE on a Windows7 virtual machine on this computer. After plugging in the prop (PDB) and selecting "Connect to Mac" I am able to find the propeller with the "Detect Attached Propellers" button. However when I go to load a program it gives me a load error: "error: hardware lost" "error: no propeller chip on port...". Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks
-Brian
If you are running the IDE in the Windows VM, why wouldn't you select "Connect to Windows" and then use it that way? I run a Win7 VM under Parallels and always tell it to connect thing to Windows if the program is running under the Windows VM. I've never thought of trying it with it connected to the Mac. I'll have to once I clear some stuff out of memory.
The other question is what kind of Propeller board? If it is a Rev A QuickStart, they sometimes have issues being seen by the programming tool. You need to try the "Magic Resistor" if it is a Rev A QuickStart.
I have the original IDE (from parallax) in windows but it doesn't run on mac. When Brad's Spin Tool came out I was interested to see if I could start programming props on my mac (I avoid Windows and PCs when possible...) I never got into it much and there were reports of some functions not being included or working right or whatever and since I was/am new to spin I didn't want to introduce more unknowns. When I saw the new IDE by Brett I was happy to see it ran on mac so I downloaded it. Thus my main interest was in the fact that it was for mac, not that it has new features. I have no real problems with the IDE I've had for years other than it makes me use Windows.
I am using a professional development board with the 40 pin DIP package prop.
If you have your VM running and you plug the PDB into the Mac and tell it to "connect to Windows", you can use the Propeller Tool under windows without a problem. It can both see and program the Propeller.
If you plug your PDB into the Mac and tell it to "connect to Mac", then the new IDE can see the Propeller but can't program it.
I had an issue lately where my FTDI chips did not work because Apple wrote their own drivers and stopped using the FTDI drivers but this change happened with Yosemite (10.10). You could try installing the "official" FTDI drivers on top of whatever is there. I had some hassle with getting that to work but it finally did work on Yosemite. I don't recall ever having this issue on anything prior to Yosemite.
Downloaded and tried to compile an existing project. Didn't work. Cannot find additional objects defined in the OBJ section..
Hi there,
Have you tried setting the library path defined in the Preferences (F5)?
Also, I recommend that you download the latest PropellerIDE 0.30.0 here. That whole system has been completely rewritten so if it really is an issue with the IDE, this may solve your problem anyhow:

You can install Qt5 packages from here: http://twolife.be/raspbian/. There are nice instructions for setting up the apt sources etc on that page.
And here is a list of all the packages: http://twolife.be/raspbian/pool/test/qtbase-opensource-src/
People have reported success with these.

Make sure to change the name of the loader from p1load to propman (also in Preferences).
Here is the thread (it hasn't been stickied yet):
