Video shift register question

Hello:
Forgive me if this is answered already be the forum is devilish had to search.

It would be good if the Video logic could have an option as a general purpose serial I/O shifter for serial communications.
Since it is a shift out kind of gadget, it would make sense to me that it would not take much to make it a shift in gadget also and from there make it a simple hardware 32-bit shifter to facilitate serial I/O that is done with bit-banging now.

Whats anybody think?

That has been suggested many times by many people and is a very good idea. Some form of that will be in the P2, and if a version 2 of the P1 was ever done I am sure that would be one of the changes made to it.

I think this is on the to-do list - as mentioned above, certainly In added to Out is a common request.
IIRC last status of this was Chip was implementing a Dual port CLUT (Colour look up table) table, with a DDS read clock scheme.
(It can burst fill at the core clock rate)
Ideally, with options for both Analog video (DAC), and LCD style video (many pins )
I think this could also be FIFO on read.

The smart pin cells will also have counters and shifters.
