Has anyone ordered and set up one of these units yet? http://www.ebay.com/itm/171322466793?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I bought a few of them but as usual there are no instructions and I would like to add one to my Wild Thumper.

What does it do? I couldn't find any description of what the board does, other than the rather cryptic title of the listing "DZ184 Electronics KD9561 CK9561 Alarm Module DIY Kit 4 Kind of Sound free ship ^". Of course, I'm at work, using Internet Explorer 8, so it's possible that there is something on the site that is not being displayed here. Is it a sound sensor (alarm module) or sound generator (4 kind of sound)?

It says it's an alarm module. I am pretty sure it just sounds an alarm when tripped, but that is what I can't figure out how to do. I did send the seller an email asking for a bit of help!

On sale at ICStation, only 85 cents. Maybe they can help you out. It looks like just some kind of sound generator.

edit: Why did ICstation get banned I wonder. They didn't really spam all that much and they had some decent stuff.

    I also like ICStation.

For a bit there, you were banned.

When I first opened this thread your user name had a line through it with "Banned" underneath.

Hehe. Yeah, I reported something inappropriate from a first time poster and it seems I was accidentally caught in the crossfire.

    Rick,

Sorry about the mishap. Don't know what happened. I deleted some spam and banned another user about the same time.

My guess would be to add an 8 ohm speaker to the top two holes, 5V to the pad marked "+", ground to the pad marked "-" and try connecting the other pads to ground or 5V.

Edit: I was wrong. See post #11 for a link to schematic.

I'm glad you're back with us Rick.

Edit: Two of the lower pads aren't connected. You wouldn't need to try using these.

Don't think I've seen that. So they mark your user name as banned, but your comment is not shown?

I think when a user is banned, the comments remain but there's a line through the user name with the word "Banned" under it.

As Rick said, ICStation has been banned. You can see how it looks on their post about LEDs here:

Poor Wanita. I thought she was behaving herself and keeping the ICStation stuff in the classified section? She even remembered to call us "Parallaxians" in this post.

I think she went too far at one time selling items directly related to Arduinos and other items that did not fit the Parallax model.

Maybe we can get her back by having her only post items that pertain to peripherals that work with BS2, SX and Propeller products.

That sure helps. It's strange these are sold without the schematic since it requires additional components to work.

It looks like there's a resistor, which might set the pitch, power, two no connections and two selects. The select inputs are combinations of 1, 0, x or NC. Normally "x" would be don't care and NC is "no connection". It will need some trial and error to come up with a real truth table. And with really loud speakers it sounds like lots'a fun on a thumper.

Hey thanks all. I have a Veho Speaker that I need to see if I can figure out how to connect to this device.
