There are a handful of custom-designed 3D-printed parts that went into this flamethrower's creation, so even if you wanted to build one yourself (which you shouldn't) you're going to have a hard time without Ivan sharing the schematics and models—and that's probably a good thing. If you want to ring in the new year in style, stick to sparklers.

    Pretty good! I guess cornstarch & flames is akin to grain silo explosions.

    I'm an aerosol hairpray fan, which gives a reliable 2-3' flame for my Halloween flamethrowers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPc4uIEYy_Q

    But I inspired another guy to make one using aerosol car starting fluid, which was scary. It made a much longer flame, like 6-8 feet.

    Do not attempt, kiddies!

    Cans of 3M glue work great too!!! It works similar to Napalm!!! Although homemade Napalm can be made very easily, please kids, do not try this at home.

    Fine sawdust from sanding wood will also work.

    In the video, he mentions non-dairy creamer. It is made from coconut oil and might be extremely flammable in this context. Mythbusters had a bit of a technical problem with it in one of their shows...seems they didn't anticipate which direction the wind was blowing.

    Powdered sugar might be interesting as well.

    IOW, there are lots of ways to arrive at the burn ward.

    Automotive starting fluid is actually ether. It remains highly explosive at sub-zero temperatures. And a lab I worked in, would never keep a partial can after opening one for use due to fears of an explosion.

    +++++
    Safety first... forget all this playing with fire.
