What's with the upsurge in banning new member registrations

Lately, there seems to be a ton of "people" (or bots) trying to register on the forum and then being banned shortly thereafter.

Is Parallax next on the list after Sony? Who is weeding out all of these bogus registrants?

Us moderators are locked and loaded.!

Most of the bots are getting ousted automatically. (Not sure what the software is using ).

Most get sent to Moderators, (unseen to the general public). I delete at least 10 a day that our forums do not get polluted with.

    Happy Free Spam Forums!

We all appreciate it! I'm glad software has automated some of the process anyway.

You would think these people could find something more constructive to do with their time and skills...

You wouldn't believe some of the garbage we've had to haul to the curb. Thankfully, automoderation has flagged most of it and kept it from the public eye.

Seriously, those Arduino users should just bite the bullet and try the Propeller.

From their standpoint it is constructive. They do it to build link spam. Most of it is automatic, using some well known and notorious software, but it's useless to them as this forum applies a "nofollow" rule to outbound links anyway. If if they manage to post a link, the search engines ignore it.

If I can catch them before they post, I do. They may be bots but it is still satisfying to ban them before they can churn out their garbage posts.
