I know that there is a debug option with usb programmed and controlled basic stamps, but is that option also available when you use serial port communication to the basic stamp?
I mean specifically where the basic stamp can communicate back to the computer screen. Eg. put up a resistance of the potentiometer you are turning with your fingers.

Yes. You use it exactly the same way - the USB thing is just a converter that gives you a serial port on computers that don't have one (or enough). Neither the stamp nor the stamp editor know or care about the difference between a real serial port and a USB converter.

    thank you electrodude
I did not want to buy the serial portion, wait 2 weeks then find out the debug fails.
    Thank you.

I use a BS2Sx on a StampDuino carrier board that has a USB connector. Stamp editor and debug work OK.

I have an older Dell desktop that I use for Stamp programming occasionally and Debug works just fine thru the serial connection.
