If only he knew about the Propeller

I had a link to this project in an email I received today from Circuit Cellar. I read about it and thought to myself- this project could have easily been done with 1 prop chip.

I Agree. Seems like an adequate system for a road with a low volume of traffic where two vehicles passing the sensors at the same time would be a rare concurrence. Not much use for a road with bumper to bumper traffic and two lanes in each direction which is where monitoring would normally be done.
