Propeller controlled Rover 5 bot.

I started a new project/bot. I've always wanted a rover and choose the dagu rover 5 platform. I've built tons of hex's and quad's, but no rovers. I picked this bot up on a cyber Monday deal along with the dagu motor controller. I just got it this sat and started working on it... my progress so far.

I'll be using an ax-12 arm and the arm has a standard servo gripper. I'm combining several bots I've built into one platform. I have lots of working parts just bringing them together.

Pics of my current progress attached, making acrylic decks tomorrow and will update in a day or so.

Is the Quantum Robotics board your creation? The bot looks great - by the way.

I finished the plates yesterday and finished putting it together a few minutes ago. No real issue, went pretty smooth. The next few days I'll be spending time wiring everything together and then writing and testing software.

I did make the board. Its a revised version of http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/126747-Propeller-Based-IK-Hexapod-Project. I made that years ago but still use them in my crawler type bots but I'm updating all of them to XBee instead of PS/2 controllers.

I made the Q-RX to compliment with the controllers I use. Some of the board specs: 24 Servo connections via a 4.7K resistor, those same pins have a connection available before the resistors, 2 Bioloid busses, for the AX-xx series servos TTL versions, 3.3V & 5V connections for sensors & power support for add on boards, Xbee, & SDA & SCL connections. I choose no USB on this board because I plan to use them in all my bots and its cheaper to buy the USB to serial then make each board USB. I just got the boards in from Golden Phoenix I still need to test them out. I found one issue, I switched the power and ground on the AX connectors which is a quick fix. Its an easy fix to make in Diptrace and I made a cable in the mean time where I just swap the pins. I picked up all the parts thru Digikey to make the Bioloid cables.

I have new pics posted below. I'll post new pics of the wiring job & vids when I get this bot up and running.

The last pic is with the arm attached. Now I need a couple of days to wire and program the bot. Then make it move.

I spent some time the last week or two wiring the bot up. Most of it is almost ready to go, and I have the next few days off to finish it up. At the same time I've started splicing code together to get everything up and running. Coming to together real nicely.

I've won a contest or two from Parallax and including those prizes into the bot. I included a GPS from a package a got from Matt. It's the PMB-648SiRFGPSInt Antenna and it worked right away from the code posted on learn portion of the parallax site. I plan to add a gyro & acc. aswell.

    Some progress pics.
The last pic has everything wired up, I took off the arm as I need to make leads. longer. Working on that tonight.

Whit I've bought a couple of those buys and Erco should start his own Uncle Erco's(Uncle Henry's). It's from a show on history channel.

Looks quite dandy and your bench is getting messier, so my faith is restored. Great job, Boss!
