Where's the forum?

Not a problem for regular users, but if you come to forums.parallax.com without a login cookie you see no way to actually get to the forums, except to click on the ALREADY HIGHLIGHTED "forum" tab. IRL the way tabs work is I don't try to open one that's already open because, well, already open.

Yeah, I was on my phone and couldn't figure out what to do. Figured it was something wrong with the mobile version so waited until I was on a computer and was just as confused. Thanks for bringing this up.

Yes, it's a problem as the URL

    http://forums.parallax.com/

leads you to that top page with no easy links to the actual forum -- cookies or no. It's an even bigger problem as this is the URL from Parallax's main page. Click on Forums there, and you'll never get here! (Well, not easily, at any rate. No obvious link = click the Back button to go someplace else.)

(Google and Bing also have search results to the forums.parallax.com root. So it's not just a matter of changing the link from the main Parallax page.)

For "mobile versions," I'm guessing that when they complete the vBulletin version 5 upgrade, there will be no separately generated version for mobile. I'm pretty sure version 5 is responsive, meaning it's all the same content, just different CSS rules to better present the page for narrower screens. A while back Parallax updated their main pages so it would be responsive, as well.

Small issues like these are the result of the unsuccessful forum upgrade and resulting rapid reversion to an older vBulletin.

We hope you'll have the patience and understanding to bear with these quirks while our IT staff focuses their attention on working out the snags in the upgrade process.

In the migration it might also be worthwhile to consider not having a separate home page. These days, more and more forums don't have a home page; they go right to the forum groups. In vBulletin there's a SetDefault option for doing that.

I almost never see the home page. My Firefox forum bookmark is the "What's New" link.

My personal website (Savage///Circuits) uses a front page because the primary function of the website is a project repository and all that stuff is located in the CMS front-end (vBulletin). Many people do skip right to the forums and miss some good info. =)
