Glen A. Larson the writer and producer of many of the TV shows from my youth has passed away.

    We know him for the Larsen scanner, but he had an amazing career in television.

    The use of the Marshall Time Modulator for the Cylon voices was pretty cool, too. A staple at the Universal sound department for several years, it had a more interesting timbre than a vocoder alone. (It was also used to augment James Earl Jones' voice for Darth Vader.)

    Glen Larson and I crossed paths back in about 1978. Literally. It was in a corridor and elevator inside the Univ Studios Black Tower when I was there to discuss a spec script I had written for The Bionic Woman. For being "Mr. Universal" (at the time he had been or was executive producer for a good half-dozen popular Universal Studios shows) he was very patient and polite in helping me find my way to the right office.
