I just watched a very interesting and well done documentary the role and evolution of the airplane in World War One. (You can find if on PBS on Roku or on YouTube if you search)

What was even more interesting/fascinating is what The Vintage Aviator in New Zealand is doing. They are reconstructing and in most cases building from new many of the famous WWI aircraft based on original plans and as best they can original manufacturing techniques. They are featured in the show since they now have one of the largest collections of "original" WWI aircraft. It's amazing when they go into their shop and you see the craftsmanship going into these reconstructions.

When completed, they are flying them and making head to head comparisons of the planes with a true feeling of how the originals flew.

Very interesting if you are interested in aircraft at all.

You might grab more attention from the techno-set if you call 'em Propeller-powered Unirotors instead of airplanes. Single-engine planes, anyway! :)

Sounds great, will watch for this one.

As a young teenager I had a number of models of various scale of the De HAvilland FE2. I found it a fascinating aircraft. And so many, many .... years later I was so happy to see an accurate replica flying here in NZ.
And the same for the De Havilland Mosquito. (WWII) I know one has been built from scratch here in NZ but unfortunately I haven't seen it flying.

Slightly more modern, but what about the Bugatti Reve Bleu recreation?

That plane has even better lines than a Spitfire!
