CEASE AND DESIST DEMAND
Pursuant to Title 17 of the United States Code

October 30, 2014

Parallax Inc.
599 Menlo Drive,
Suite 100,
Rocklin, CA 95765

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this to notify you that a request has been made to remove all of my literary work and photographic images from the Parallax, Inc. website. Please be advised, from this date forward, I will construe the continued display of my literary work and photographic images on the Parallax, Inc. as unlawful, and a direct infringement upon my exclusive copyrights. Accordingly, you are hereby directed to

CEASE AND DESIST ALL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

I am the owner of several copyrights being displayed on the Parallax, Inc. website. Under United States copyright law, my copyrights have been in effect since the date of creation. All copyrightable aspects of my literary work and photographic images are copyrighted under United States copyright law.

Under 17 U.S.C. 504, the consequences of copyright infringement include statutory damages of between $750 and $30,000 per work, at the discretion of the court, and damages of up to $150,000 per work for willful infringement. If you continue to engage in copyright infringement after receiving this notice, your actions will be evidence of “willful infringement.”

It is demanded that you immediately cease and desist your unlawful display of my literary work and photographic images. If you do not comply with this cease and desist demand within ten (10) days, I will be entitled to use your failure to comply as evidence of “willful infringement” and seek monetary damages and equitable relief for your copyright infringement. In the event you fail to meet this demand, please be advised that I will contemplate pursuing all available legal remedies, including seeking monetary damages, injunctive relief, and an order that you pay court costs and attorney’s fees.

Bruce Drummond

P.S. I hope PJV and T Chap provide you with a lot of website traffic and content

Hmm... There's something natural and even organic about a cease-and-desist order from idbruce.

Good news is that, like being on Sheldon Cooper's enemies list, it doesn't take a lot of your time. :)

I blinked and missed something, but it sure sounds like somebody had a bad day. Hang in there, idbruce. Maybe it's time for something completely different. You still owe me that figure 8 robot you nearly promised.

Parallax has apparently sided with the troublemakers, instead of someone who provides content and traffic. If they make me suffer, there is no reason they should continue to receive the benefits of my laborous efforts.

    sad to hear that.

'apparently' ? - based on whose perception ?
All I could find was a little eye-rolling and tut-tutting, at a thread that had got the wobbles....

Eh, I'm not sure that you can claim a "cease and desist" copyright order on materials that you posted... It doesn't work that way..

@Idbruce, take a little time off, rest and let a little time give you good perspective on the situtation. Nothing done rashly in haste is usually a good decision.
It's solid advice for all, not just pointed at you. I done this myself at times.

We only ask that the nonsense stop. It comes from you, from your critics, and sometimes from Parallax if we also get irate from seeing this content on a Parallax-owned system.

This isn't a good way for Bruce or anybody else to spend their time. The most productive path forward is to stop the public threats and simply allow some time to pass. I've made the mistake of acting too fast in the past and learned a valuable lesson more than once. Forum members shouldn't bait the situation any further, too. This isn't good for Bruce and it furthers discussion that's just not relevant to what we all do.

Bruce, let's talk tomorrow after the situation has cooled down. I'd be happy to give you a ring to discuss if you tell me where to call. My personal e-mail is kgracey@parallax.com and my direct phone number is (916) 625-3010. If I'm not in the office it rings directly through to my cell phone.

I'll lock this thread after I made this post. If there's more of this stuff we will need to freeze some accounts. I don't even know if I have access to do that, and I'm not about to bother Bump or Jim this evening so give it a break.

Let's spend our time on our hobbies, our professions, and projects!
