Pocket Spacecraft

I recently got in on a cool project called Pocket Spacecraft, and was thinking some people here might want to also get involved. The idea is to allow average people to send spacecraft to space. To do this, the people at Pocket Spacecraft have made small and compact 3" spacecraft that will be all launched in a cube sat mother ship.

There are many different levels of spacecraft that you can buy, including one that will go to the moon. All of the different levels consist of different hardware. For example, the lunar scouts, the spacecraft that will circle the moon, have different hardware than the ones that will fall back to Earth. If you're adventurous, you can get "hardware credits" which will let you customize your spacecraft to possibly have an antenna, or a strain gauge.

The link to their website if you're interested: http://pocketspacecraft.com/

I think a cube bigger than 3" will be required to send the average person into space.

That sounds like an awesome idea!

You should start a local meetup group in the name of the city/town you live in. That way it is hands on. 50 people at $100, plus donations from the press release and you'll be in space in no time, providing these guys deliver.

I'm hoping they deliver because I have already paid for my Lunar spacecraft :)

Sorry for being such a stickler, but I LOL-ed at the first wording because of the mental image it generated.

Amature access to space for small payloads sounds like a great idea though.

On a side note, has anyone heard about the recent cube sat launch in honor of a recently deceased astronomer ( I think he was an astronomer, not exactly sure )?
