This is interesting. I do not like that the propellers are driven via gears - the motors are perpendicular to the propeller shafts. This will reduce efficiency and control responsiveness due to the added mass, play and friction.

    Not sure how I'd like the cellphone control interface. Sticks just seem better suited to smooth and subtle input. Just picked up a Hubsan and I'm totally hooked on it. Rather than fold it up, I carry it around in a little plastic box and throw the control in the back seat. Not as portable as this rig, but easy to tote around from place to place.

    The 'advanced' flight control features, like return-to-home and auto-land, seem nice. The more automated the flight, the less important the controls are - I guess.

    The 90' range could be an issue.
