Has anyone tried to compile the simple idea for an android tablet?

While off to CT school last month I found a nexus7 below cheap. The otg connector I got foir it worked with a USB2serial without even rooting the unit. Before I go off the deep end and try compiling for an android I would like to know if this has been done yet.
