This robotic flower has a very neat motion. I swear there's a walking hexapod in there somewhere. Not the 3 DOF per leg, 18-servo kind, more along the lines of Jamie's Spider Robot, with 2 or 3 motors/servos.

    If it had two central mechanisms which lifted every other leg, it might be able to pull off the alternate tripod gate.
