As I was browsing through eBay I came across this board. Just wondering if anyone has used it or what others think of it.

That? Its the second source of an Intel 8051 family member. Atmel created the original design. Oddly enough the 8051 family is extremely popular still. But for specialty functions I'll bet on the processors used by the BASIC Stamp, or the Netduino gang.....
Incidentally Andy, better feed your mascot....
It seems that some technical schools latched on to mastering it very early on and have never considered looking at new devices. I guess that they feel the complexity builds character and newer devices are too easy.
If you previously learned how to use one or it has a good application with good documentation, it can be useful in any project. But that is a lot of 'ifs'.
The newer 8052 is better. and then there are specialty version. i have the TINI board from Dallas Semi that does Java, has a LAN interface, and a lot more. That is very advanced 8051.
You might as well just use a Propeller and not revisit history.
