Hey guys, new member here, I just got the activity bot in the mail this morning and assembled it as normal, I followed the instructions on Learn and started this one http://learn.parallax.com/propeller-c-simple-circuits/blink-light.

I just flicked the switch to 1 when the little nub snapped off cleanly and i had to use a tweezers to flick the switch to off.

Now since i'm living in Ireland a replacement board i feel would be kinda long from being shipped from USA, is it possible to desolder the connections on the back and replace the single pole triple throw with one bought from Maplin which is my local component stocker.

If anyone could advise me if i'm better off getting a replacement board or just replacing the switch.

Hi Jason - Welcome to the Forums!

    That's just a sad, sad situation :(
Who'd you get it from, directly from us or a distributor?
Please email me your shipping address and we'll get you fixed up

Hi Matt, there's a slight problem with that, i bought the bot from a distributer as at that time you were out of stock from the parallax store , from amazon
    My address is blah, blah
ps. while i bought the bot itself from amazon, i also bought some accessary parts from the parallax store

    Hi Jason-
No worries, continue to use a toothpick or tweezers on the one you have, until your *new* PAB arrives :thumb:
There is one condition however...You need to keep us up-to-date (here on the Forums) on how your project(s) are going :thumb:

    Jason, welcome to the forums!
The quote "If it's too good to be true, then it probably is." does not at all apply for Parallax.
I.e. their customer service is as good or sometimes even better than you just experienced

This switch has been a problem. It was even sourced from an American distributor, but that doesn't mean the Chinese manufacturer didn't use the lowest-grade plastic available.

Anyway, we're in the process of designing that switch OUT of our product. If anybody experiences this, just contact one of us and we'll switch it out (haha) for no charge. Nobody should have to endure such QA/QC nonsense with their precious person, hobby and educational time.

Thanks Matt for jumping in and solving this one for the customer.

Earlier today I read a post about the customer service provided by Parallax and how good it is!! I've been dealing with Parallax for ~4 years now and all I can say about their customer service is WOW!!! I discovered parallax about 4 years ago and I've been nothing but impressed by their service and how much they care about their customers!! I grew far to used to the lack of concern other companies have for their customers and their concerns and issues!!! The response to Parallax to an issue that is publicly known to a single person is to me amazing an unique among chip manufacturers!! Has any of us known a company to do as much publicly?

I'm sure we can all chime in with experiences with Parallax that makes them unique in the world of chip providers. They deserve two thumbs up from all of us!!!!!

In addition to outstanding customer support, they also have outstanding products, and I am very surprised with problem of the original post.

Sounds like a mind numbing job opportunity - Slide Switch Stress Tester :)
