STMicroelectronics is now offering stepper drivers based upon the L6474 driver. Only $17.50 each from DigiKey.

8 - 45V
Phase current up to 3A RMS
1/16 microstepping resolution
stackable

Where is that? All I can find for the L6474 is this much more expensive board:
