The new group-layout of New Posts

The forum has changed very recently - now when I click 'New Posts' I get all the posts I haven't read, as before, but instead of being strictly time-sorted with the newest post appearing at the top of page 1, the new posts are now in separate groups with their own 'forum' header.

I can't say I like this change very much. Before, I would go through the pages of unread posts and select (in a tab) those I wanted to read. Read posts, then hit 'New Posts' again and look for any new ones appearing at the top of page 1. I could easily see if something new had been posted while I was picking/selecting/reading posts. Then either read that, or decide that it's fine and click 'Mark Forums Read'. Avoiding a race condition that way.

With the new layout I can't do that, because the posts are no longer time-sorted. They're only time-sorted under their own forum headers. This means that to verify that everything is ready for 'Mark Forums Read' I now have to page down through all of that, potentially through multiple pages. This is much more inconvenient. I definitely prefer the previous layout, you could still see which forum a thread belonged to there as well, so there is nothing gained with the new layout (and it also takes more space).

I don't see that phenomenon when I click "What's New?" They're still in strictly reverse chronological order.

...I do not see the issue either.

Check under Settings -> General Settings. There is a menu option for Thread Display Mode that may fix what you are seeing.

It's gone - it was there (for the whole (Japanese) day, i.e. many hours), now it's gone back to normal. I did absolutely nothing in between. Very strange.
