Sparkfun is selling the MIP Robot Platform http://www.wowwee.com/mip/
The MiP Robotic Platform is the first self-balancing robot that you get to control and play games with. The MiP can drive, dance, plays games, battle with other MiPs, respond to simple hand motions and can be remotely controlled by a compatible iOS or Android device. Thanks to a suite of motion and sound sensors and WowWee’s own

I saw that email this morning Ron. It has different modes. I like the mode were he balances a couple of apples on his table. Maybe this will inspire me to go back to work on mine.

Very impressive... I have always had a soft spot for balancing robots.

Put two of these in a mini-sumobot ring and you have a great new robot competition. I wonder why it hasn't been done sooner.

Neat! Was this developed by Mark Tilden, I wonder? He was the brains behind many of Wow Wee's bots. Amazing for a hundred bucks!

I have a Mip, pretty good. New on Ebay for $75. Works as advertised, but TTYTT I find another balance bot more engaging, the Gyrobo: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/156509-Gyrobo Half the size of Mip, $100 from Ebay, shipped from S. Korea.

Gyrobo's dedicated remote is much easier to use than a smartphone, and the line following aspect of Gyrobo is very fun to watch, especially the 3D tracks with lines shown in the video. It's small and light enough that you can make a nice track with ramps and over/unders out of a piece or two of foamcore board.

The wheels look like they're canted a few degrees which probably help stability a bit.

I've built a balance bot, but haven't completed it because I found the IMU and mathematics a bit daunting to work with. I've since heard in the Pololu forum that someone else got it working, so I should probably circle back and finish mine. But my job has been intense for the past eight months which has put a lid on any big projects.

Very well packaged robots. I developed one a few years ago. Would love to sell it as a kit one day. Amongst other projects, I'm developing another using the Arduino Due. Once the Prop-2 is out, I'll do another on that.
