Saw the announcement from Jen J this morning about the Labor Day Sale - but I do have one question.

What about items that are not in stock but will be in stock soon? For example: http://www.parallax.com/product/910-32810

Hi Doc - Of course! But it needs to be an "online order" - not a phone order, that way it gets logged into the system properly.

So is the 10% off in addition to whatever discount already applies? For instance, I see the Activity Board is currently 10% off, would that mean an additional 10% off that for a total of $40.50 for the Activity Board? If this is the case, @George Sutton, you may want to jump on that Wild Thumper as it is a total of $90.00 off!!!!!!

EDIT: If this is the case, I might as well grab an Activity Board and use that with my Wild Thumper instead of the Project Board, unless anyone can think of a reason not to.

JenJ is at it again, driving the marketing train right off the tracks with her extreme value sessions. Good thing she took today and tomorrow off, else I'd be having a "word" with her (actually, two words and a few longs).

You guys better spend all your money before I figure out how to remove this "10% off" promotion bit.

C'mon Ken - Jen's been doing a yeoman's job lately! How about only a nybble? Or maybe just a snak?
(ok, I made that last 2-bit one up :-)

I think all the prices on the site reflect the 10% off for this weekend. if I'm not mistaken. That is to say, every product is marked down 10% already.

    Or maybe just a snak?

so THAT's what they're called! A lot easier than "quaternary digit"!

From the ever-always-correct Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Units_of_information), under Obsolete and Unusual Units:

2 bits: crumb, quad, quarter, tayste, tydbit, semi-nibble

I've used "crumb", I've seen "nybble", and do like the idea of "tayste".

    "tayste" isn't bad :thumb:
Back when I got home from school in the 8th grade, the first words out of my mouth were always "hey mom, what's for a snack?"
    :thumb:
A "tayste" would have been just a bit too little

    Matt,

This is something I might would have taken advantage of if only Parallax.com would let me log in to their site.

I go to Parallax.com and click on log-in and I get a message that the site does not exist.

This is somewhat a puzzle for me because I can go the forums and log in just fine. If I try to do shopping from here I get the same 'page does not exist' when I try to check out.

I buy stuff online from others without so much hassle....

It is a bit of a slap in the face being disallowed the best prices though.

So, I ordered a DE0 Nano! And a prop plug, I have one already but can always use a spare.
Now, I hope the sales force doesn't get confused about my dual address setup - billing address Norway, shipping address Japan! (because that's where I'm staying for now).

I should be able to finally take part in all this Propeller FPGA stuff then, hopefully. :)

You might need to register at Parallax.com. The store and the forum use separate accounts.

Everyone had to create a new account with the store relatively recently.

I just placed and order and still got 10% off.

I'm glad it's not a %10 sale since that would just be 2% off.

What's with the snak, quaternarydigit, crumb, quad, quarter, tayste, tydbit and semi-nibble?

Everyone knows "shave and a hair cut" is 2-bits.

That was probably a great idea. Just a little beyond my price range currently though. Congratulations!

A little out of mine too right now - $$ is tight right now but I splurged a little and will call it my Birthday present. (Which is this month.)

I really wanted to pull the trigger on an Elev-8 but couldn't justify just yet. Besides, I was a little concerned the Wild Thumper platform might go the way of the Quad-Rover and I'd miss my chance. :)

You spent your allowance here this weekend, doggiedoc. I was cruising the shipping department to find Publison's order so I could include an ELEV-8 V2 (he's going to do the build for our photos) and came across your order. Guess you don't have a spousal approval limit in your home.

I enter parallax.com in my web browser and get the home page.

I click the login/register tab and wait and wait and go make coffee an eventually my browser tells me the page can not be displayed and suggest I verify and/or refresh the parallax.com connection in my browser.

For a while I did report what was happening to the webmaster. I never got so much as a thank you, drop dead or k..s my a.s in reply. So I buy things where home pages are friendlier and will let me login/register.

Sorry trooks, I was unaware you were having these kinds of problems with our web site. I'm not sure why you didn't get a reply. Usually I'm on top of that - for example today I know exactly how many tech support messages we received and how many we replied to - but I don't monitor webmaster e-mail.

I'm pleased to look into them with our webmaster. It shouldn't be difficult to purchase from our site and I'm as disappointed as you are.

Please curtail your use of starred-out expletives on this forum.

Trooks: The site is set up redirect any requests for parallax.com to www.parallax.com. It seems to work from my remote location with three different browsers (Safari, Firefox and Chrome). Do you have the same results when you navigate to www.parallax.com? If it's not working, can you pass along a few details, such as the browser you are using and if you have JavaScript and cookies enabled. Both are required for the site.

Sometimes browser extensions can block redirects from working properly.

    There you go!

I refuse to do business with sites that _require_ cross scripting.

You can keep gaggle and do without my business.

Fortunately not all of the e-commerce world is being so stupid and short sighted.

For the benefit of anyone else reading along, using JavaScript does not equate to an XSS attack.
