What Happened To?

Way back when, around 2005 or so when I first started reading this forum under a different user name, there use to be a Forum for "Completed Projects". That is all that was allowed in the Forum and if memory serves me correctly, people would get credits to Parallax products upon posting completed projects. I would like to see this come back as I drew a lot of inspiration from that Forum. I know there is a "Projects" Forum but it discusses more current projects than anything. I would really like to see that forum come back. Not necessarily the Parallax Credit part, but just the "Completed Projects". I recall seeing a Bot that a nine or ten year old made that totally floored me.

I think they had a hard time getting people to provide all the information they wanted in a "Completed Project". People kept posting projects which weren't complete and I think Parallax got tired of policing the forum. I understand the decision but I also miss the completed projects.

I have all sorts of projects myself, and I'm not sure if I'd consider any of them "completed".

Savage Circuits has a projects section. I keep thinking I'll get around to posting some of my projects over there (once I complete some).

That makes sense, but yea, I miss viewing the projects also, even if the info was incomplete.

The Completed Projects forum was changed to just Projects removing the requirement for members to submit what was considered a "complete" project. I maintained that forum until this change at which point it became impossible to keep up with all the posts that landed there, including help questions on projects that often were never finished or posted there. Some posts amounted to nothing more than a comment about a project with no photos, videos, or anything to show what was done. So yes, there is no way to track which projects are completed. As Duane mentioned, Savage///Circuits is a project website, so the goal is to have the projects forum be just that. Because projects often start with discussion and then are in progress for some time, I added labels:

Discussion - Project is planned and member is getting feedback on what is needed or resources to realize the project.
In Progress - The project is underway, but is not yet completed.
Completed - The project is completed and contains the minimum criteria for a completed project.

This helps visitors to know which projects are completed. Mainly because that forum is moderated.

I recently recreated a thread that was lost after the crash on Savage///Circuits that was a project I did with a BS1. It was a pretty neat project in my mind. :)

    I called it Flasher Dasher.
