Electric Traction via rewound industial induction motor
I've been working towards using a rewound 2.2kW 3-phase induction motor
as a traction motor from low voltage (36V or 48V), using the Propeller to control the motor,
and a custom 3-phase MOSFET inverter bridge as power stage.
I've mentioned my progress on induction motor drive before, here:
http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/156099-Propeller-as-3-phase-induction-motor-vector-controller
I've also been converting an old 2.2kW industrial motor by refurbishing and rewinding for a
lower voltage, documented here: http://sphinx.mythic-beasts.com/~markt/motor-rewind/motor-rewind.html
Currently I'm in process of building a high-current inverter bridge, then the motor windings
will be reconfigured and tested properly, with LiFePO4 battery pack (currently 24V).

What an awesome project! And a lot of work too.. What are you going to do with all that Traction?
Could be a money making opportunity, Helping to support your wire habit.
