Looks like I am not the only one who thinks the US should get off the sidelines and improve the speeds.

    Indeed.

Here I have the cheapest possible internet connection on offer. People laugh at me or take pity because its so embarrassingly slow.

For seven dollars a month it delivers 10Mbs up AND down. Often measured at 11 or 12Mbs. Often there are two machines in the house playing video at the same time without hitch and no known data caps.

Are you referring to the SamKnows program? My ISP offered this to me and I though about signing up, but then thought they must really just want to monitor all my internet activity. Even though I have nothing to hide in that regard, it just didn't seem necessary. They claim to only want to monitor internet bandwidth from actual customers to get a national picture of the infrastructure I presume. Has anyone else participated in this program?

    Thanks,
    Marcus
