Why no cordless phones with auto hang up feature? (need help for elder people)

Hello.

All we get aged, and when in ages, a lot of obvious things aren't so easy to do as it was in past. Aged people often forgot a lot of things. The one of the most common problems is that they forgot to hang-up the cordless phone, by pressing the button. I have no idea, why current DECT phones aren't equipped with such feature? The phone station sends the call end signal, but phone will remain of the hook, until you press the hang up button, place it in the cradle or reboot the base station.

This is widely known problem as seen from google, and no solution available, except using very expensive cordless phones with that function. The problem is that even devices like CPC-1 can't help, since cordless phone won't hang up.

I've did the following experiment:

when the call ended, left handset untouched, phone station sent call end signal, but phone is of the hook, so no new calls are possible, since phone line is busy.
I've disconnected the line momentarily, and when reconnected, phone base station did dropped the call, but the incoming call still was impossible, since handset was believing it is still in the conversation. From the far end this sensed as "no answer".

I've cycled base station power and it helped - line was dropped, handset also dropped the connection and reconnected to the base station.

So I want to build a device, which will detect the conversation end signal from phone line and will cycle base station power. Any ideas?

These devices seem to be readily available in ex-usssr countries, but not outside.

Why? Maybe the NSA wants to use the phones as bugs. Or phone companies make more money from open lines. Who knows what the real design agenda is?

The core issue is how to get a good solution implemented when you are just one voice in a rather crowded world.

I studied architectural design while in university and I am always looking for a better, more clever way of doing things. But I also learned that no matter how good the innovative design is, it has to survive the process of presentation to those that can make it happen.

Acquiring and 'ex-USSR' telephone seems the easiest way.. unless there is some restriction on their import and use.

It is not a phone, it is a small device you install into phone line: http://www.microsofttranslator.com/BV.aspx?ref=IE8Activity&a=http%3A%2F%2Fotboynik.ru%2F
