Cannae to Canole: Guido's Got Game

Guido Fetta sounds like a cheese-happy Italian chef to me, but he owns a company that invented the promising, microwave-powered Cannae Drive for NASA's Mars rocket. One prototype was designed to fail but it didn't. Insert your own punchline, but know that Polish jokes are pass

Gee, i dunno, the guy only has a bachelors degree...

Pretty exciting if they can scale the thing up a bit, At least enough to get an ipad to Proxima Centurai, and maybe get a Tweet back from some aliens..

So everyone start collecting old but functioning microwave ovens from neighbors' trash cans to build our own Mars rocket engine. We bolt them all together (designed to fail) and we can't lose!

Wow, I wonder if those guys shortened their lives doing those exciting microwave experiments.

One of my favorite books is "MiG Pilot" about the soviet pilot who stole a MiG 25 Foxbat fighter and flew to Japan in order to defect to the US. Many secrets were revealed. Its giant, jam-proof powerful microwave radar emitted raw energy forward. A toggle switch turned it on & off. Occasionally, a maintenance person working on the plane near the cockpit would get a warm feeling deep inside their body when the pilot forgot to switch the radar off. Ouch...

An old but highly recommended book. http://www.amazon.com/Mig-Pilot-Final-Escape-Belenko/dp/0380538687

If not, I'm sure that any potential for progeny has been diminished some.

Camrades: Talk about releasing the magic smoke! But kids, please don't try that at home. Very dangerous on many levels. Short- and long-term risks.

I loved the fact that these fine Russian fellows use the cheapo Harbor Freight multimeters.

Holy cantenna batman! ...... I may or may not have done this with a proper waveguide horn . I may have or not used my ham call . It may have been a attempt at Microwave CW . I can say that 2 miles away my QST was very healthy.

( makes shifty eyes ) for the record I used a very small microwave as the base so to get as low ERP as I could .
