Once again, the one day a year when I wish we had 7-11's in our area.....ok, not really but it makes for polite conversation.

After 20 years in Taiwan, the local 7/11 and FamilyMart outlets have finally gotten into soft ice cream. Currently they two are warring between Mango flavored ice cream and Japanese Cantaloupe flavor.

Of course, this all came years too late for me. I have to avoid all the goodies to keep my weight down.

Every once and awhile, Taiwan goes bonkers over some Western food.

Excellent, I might have to venture out of work during the day. I wonder if the one by my work has stainless steel straws? I hear that a slurpee isn't a slurpee without the special stainless steel straws............

The cup is the size of a thimble, and then they run out of them.

Some kids at my local 7-11 took issue with them running out of the cups, and the store wouldn't allow them to get a free small-sized Slurpee instead. So, what they did was fill the biggest cup they have with the Slurpee stuff (Big Gulp), and then "accidentally on-purpose" drop it on the floor for the cashier to mop up, as a way of teaching the store a lesson to not run out of cups on the free Slurpee day.
They did this, and then sent in one of their other friends to do the same thing. As he was in line, the cashier was complaining to random customers what the other kids had done. (Internally he was laughing, because he was sent in there to do the same thing).
The second boy didn't have the b-lls to carry through with the vindictive little plan, and instead paid for the full-sized Slurpee.
Apparently, the 7-11 learned their lesson of not to run out of cups on 7-11 and the next year was properly stocked with those tiny thimble-sized cups that can only hold about 1/2 a drop of Slurpee.

Ancient history, ellipser! Per that article in the first post, they are using standard small cups now. But yes, expect a sticky floor today with all that traffic. :)

The stainless straws are good, but the new mustache straws are way more fun.

Just took the twins to 7-11 for their free Slurpees and dollar dogs. At the register the guy gave us a bag full of Gansitos (chocolate twinkie clones) and orange Crush sodas. Well worth the stop.
