I am looking to do some hand soldering for anyone that needs or wants it. I am the 2014 IPC world champion. Search the web for "brian wade hand soldering" for info about me. I have over 9 years in a professional field in hand soldering. Contact me at blue_eagle74@yahoo.com for more info.

Hopefully, you stick around and check out some of the neat toys Parallax has to offer. Welcome to the forums Brian.

I will not touch a radio shack iron. Lol. I do charge for soldering but it is the cheapest you can find. It is a hobby of mine.

Don't knock them, they may be rare collectibles soon if the Shack continues to deteriorate.
Welcome to the forums, wadester!
I have used a pipe torch and a copper roof nail No joke ! . I would have sold my soul for a butane iron that day ..... But Ya do what ya gotta do .
I was IPC cert but I see no point re paying for it every few years . Its not like I get paid more for it at my job ....
I prefer the hakko 888 as its a good " home iron" and its tough as nails . wish the handle cord was a tad longer some days .
Still I miss my Edsyn . that old thing lasted HS and most of my 9 years in college.
