"Tippi" it is
Woke up at oh-dark-thirty and decided to take a bit of time looking at the Toddler. As I feared one of the batteries had started oozing its crud. Tossed all those in the bin, thoroughly cleaned the contacts and put in fresh batteries in.
Out of curiosity, I turned on the power switch to see if anything happened. Lo and behold, she lurched a bit to one side and started walking! (Backward I think!, but walking nonetheless.)
It was at this point her name came to me. In the process of ambling across my small table, she kept making this unnerving tilt to the right. Film at 0115!

I apologize for the dim picture, but my film studio isn't very well lit in the middle of the night. At this point, I don't know if the excessive tilt is because of the program or the alignment of the linkage. But as we get to know one another, things will get sorted out.
Powering down for the night.
Amanda... and Tippi.

Lovin' it. You can def fix that "listing to port" with either (or both) mechanical/software tweaking.
Did Tippi come with the manual. You can find a pdf by googling Parallax Toddler pdf.
Went to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, came back and just stared at the little beastie. Then, in a flash of caffeine induced clarity, it occurred to me... never trust anyone else's work! I checked the software and manual... and "Ah jeez, you didn't?" Yep, the stride and tilt servo cables were reversed. The eBay listing said the Toddler "has not been used much". Yeah, I can see a reason why.
Anyhow, I put the cables back where they were =supposed= to be, made some slight changes in the demo code and Tippi's tipping is nicely balanced.
Now to work on that figure eight!

Thanks whit! :-)
I did find the manual and lots of demo code. Fun will be had!

Indeed! The problem turned out to have a simple fix... once the actual problem became clear. I was so fixed on the tilt issue, I didn't notice the stride was changing.
All better now!

I think a Toddler attempting to traverse a carpeted floor might be better called a Toppler.
Anyway, it's ball to work with.

Looks great!
Not quite a figure eight.
I should talk. My Blue and Gold have not seen the light of day for a year now.
