Wow! That is a great price. I currently have two spares still in the packaging and have some motor shafts and bearings. The most common failure I've seen is bent motor shafts. If the bearings are not damaged then the repair is very simple.

Hmmm... still may have to get one or two.

I bought 4 and don't even own an Elev-8!!! However, I can piece meal all the parts together as they go on sale and eventually will have a full kit!!! I am not in any rush so no big deal in waiting.

Now I'm really curious about V2. The pic looks like a purely aesthetic makeover, but why would that require new motors? Maybe only to go from orange to blue? Are their any changes "under the hood"? Anything that V1 users may want to retrofit?

Inquiring minds want to know.

    Russ,

Which picture are you referring to?

IIRC the older motors were blue.

Interesting.....I have what I presume to be original, original ELEV-8 (still unbuilt) that has RED Turnigy TR2217/20 motors.

Would I see a performance improvement with the currently "on sale" motors? They are different styles, so I presume the "on sale" motors could not be swapped out as spares individually for my original motors.

Obviously, this is all idle speculation until I actually build the ELEV-8!

I assumed the pic on the Home forums page was V2.

There is also the pic in post 81 here: http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php/154813-Drone-Education-Program-from-Parallax-your-input-please!/page5

That second one isn't really clear, but doesn't look substantially different than V1 other than prop guards.

Went to complete my cart today, only to find out these motors are all gone. I though there were like 40 in stock.

Guess we will have to wait for the new ones.

Or this ebay seller has four for about 10 bucks a piece:

Darn, I thought I had looked last week and there were a couple hundred...maybe that was something else.

I guess my "hanger queen" Elev-8 is going to have to forgo the motor upgrade....wait, can it really be an upgrade if it doesn't have motors installed yet?
