When you delete a post, it doesn't really go away, it just gets hidden. Such "deleted" posts can (and sometimes do) get read by us moderators. If you really want your regrettable comments to go away for good, edit the post first, replacing your snarky text with something benign. Then delete it.

Now you know!

I don't think I've needed this advice yet, but it is always good to know for future reference. I try to think over posting of snarky-type stuff and generally take Mom's advice about not saying anything if you can't say something nice (and/or constructive). Thanks for your work (and all the others) to keep this forum the friendly place that it is.

Thanks, Phil. Sometimes I don't know just how inappropriate a post is until I've thought about it a few minutes. Today's deleted post seemed amusing and harmless, initially...

    User Name,

It was your deleted post that prompted this thread. BTW, I just about died laughing! :)

If you wouldn't say it to your mom, you shouldn't put it in a post. With said,

"Love ya, mom! See you on Sunday with my laundry!"

I take it your mother wouldn't mind being called rude. :)

In our family PC is considered the new McCarthyism.

Some only say sweet words since they are more mindful that they may some day have to eat them.

Others do not dare eat with the same mouth they talk with.

I take the lazy approach and do not spit words that are less than truth as I see it. Lies are just too much trouble to try keeping up with.

That's not fair. Now we all want to see the post.

Whilst being polite should be the norm. I agree with trooks, the PC bullying is just intolerable. Not that I'm suggesting that happens here.

So, after I've rewritten a post for the fifth time, all of my previous incoherent babble is truly gone? That's comforting to know.

Heh, I found this one while trying to work out what had happened to today's popcorn topic. I presume it blew up and was removed from public viewing?

It was a thread mostly intended for moderators, so it got moved to the (private) Moderator forum.
