    My problem with the S2 is that it is simply too good a product. It has built in wheel encoders, sound, line sensors, object sensors, and light sensing. At least the S1 required hacking to add wheel encoders.

    I prefer something more unfinished. If Parallax created an S3 kit which included hobby plywood, scroll saw templates, wood glue, electronic components, vero-board, and connecting wire, I'd be the first customer in line.

    The S2 is designed for beginners, and Parallax added those features that people wanted in the S1 but could only be gotten by "hacking" it.

    Martin, I think you want Parallax to make a mini-Arlo.

    The S2 is excellent at what is designed to do. I have a few other bots, but I miss the S2. She was far more sophisticated and reliable than any bot I ever built :)
