LCD display that will run using only a maximum of 6 wires?

I know there are hundreds of displays available on the market, but I am looking for a 2x16 black background and color font LCD display that is $15 or less at low quantities (10 and less) and can run directly from the Prop using 4 pins? Am I dreaming or is something like this available in the US?

It also must run from 5V as this is what my current circuit outputs. I can't change my circuit board to adjust to 3.3V since I have a bunch already ordered and on there way to me now.

How about with 3 Propeller pins and you provide a '595 piggyback?

I does look like I am limited to only 3 pins from the prop since I forgot to connect the 4th to the display jack I was thinking about building my own boards for the display, I was just worried I would be wasting my time. Would any Parallel display work? I have been browsing NewHavenDisplays.com and DigiKey.com for some ideas on what I can get a hold of.

To work with the 3-pin scheme in the link, be certain that your displays are of the "HD44780" sort.
An awful lot are, but some are not.

Also, there are LCDs with asynchronous serial, SPI, I2C interfaces.

I am trying to keep my cost under $15 per unit if that is possible. I can design and solder my own boards as needed, so if that is the cheapest way, I would prefer to do that.

I know I am asking a bunch, but I was hoping to have a US based established company with faster shipping. Not too fond of ordering from Ebay for long time use parts.

I'm not so confident that the display I linked is truly white characters on dark background.
Sift through ebay, you may find an American-based seller that meets your price point.
