Is Heater holding Back?

I noticed Heater has not done his usual 5-10 postings per day. Is it because he doesn't want to hit the magic 10,000 posts to become VIP.

Don't be shy. You deserve VIP.

Maybe he ran out of things to say? Sorry, that sounds silly even to me.

When you guys round him up please remind him that we would like to solidify his presence on the Parallax "Star Contributor" section of our web site. All I need is a bio - real or fake - and some kind of picture.

Can't blame him! I stopped my normal blathering as I neared the 10K mark last year, realizing that such a post should be particularly noteworthy and actually contribute something. So I built a neat little BS2 robot (Coasterbot, which ultimately won Jameco's contest) and revealed it for post #10,000. Perhaps Heater is "splitting the atom" in his own way. It shouldn't be too long before we find out.

well - as found out before (by publison?) there is "@Heater" and" @Heater." now we may need to look for "@Heater.." ,since he is obviously avoiding 10.000 posts.

    Enjoy!

    @Tailspin,

That is a nice one. Did not see that. But you are right. Lets fake one?

    Enjoy!

I think it's obvious from Heater's posts that he disdains this kind of recognition. Who knows? Maybe he's in the FBI's witness protection program. But in Finland? Maybe. Have you ever watched Lillyhammer on Netflix? It's not out of the question. I shudder to imagine what crimes he may have commited or from what kind of miscreants he's being protected.

Ken, my guess is that you will never get a bio from him, much less a photo. So I think it's incumbent upon his fellow forumistas to fabricate both an appropriate bio and a photo. Can we do this? Yes, of course we can! This should be fun!

If we do fake his bio, should we do it in WordStar?

I could smoke him out by disrespecting Javascript! But then the rest of you would have to listen to our ongoing flame war.

Thank goodness they've devalued the term "English" in favor of "British."

BTW, it is almost certain that Forth will take over the embedded programming world, at least in part on the strength of its readability.

ALERT --- Heater is currently at 9999... anytime now.

Should I say something against the Raspberry Pi to bait him?

NO CAN DO...I agreed to stop doing so.

    But I didn't.

RaspberryPi, blech you couldn't pay me to take one off your hands! It has an OS which means it can't do timing dependent tasks like pulse generation. Moreover if you use it on a robot how will you use its keyboard and screen? You'll end up remotely connecting from a desktop machine anyway which makes the RaspberryPi redundant.

At that point you might as well use a Propeller running PropForth with a Wixel to wirelessly connect to it from a Windows 7 PC.

I think I found a major bug in the Heater FFT. It doesn't seem to work correctly for large data arrays. Heater, are you aware of this bug?

It is my firm belief that Heater may be trying to suppress a crucial bit of top secret information. Further, it is my (and Edward Snowden's) contention that only by posting it and getting it out in the open, can we all move forward and get on with our lives:

Well, offending him is not working. Maybe we should provide a positive incentive of some sort.
    Any suggestions?

I am beginning to think that youall also have some pretty fantastic ideas about why I live in Taiwan. I would tell you, but then I would have kill you.

Finland may not be so unreasonable..... Anybody watched fugget about it on Hulu+ or in Canada?

All things considered, I rather live in Finland that Taiwan. But finding and settling into a home overseas is not a simple process. You have to bring something of worth to your new home to get that work visa.

    Egroeg,

There's always teaching Chinese to the to the small English speaking population of Finland....or more importantly, teaching English to the Chinese families that run the Chinese fast food restaurants for the Chinese mafia! Seems like an important niche service in this ever shrinking world!

Okay, I admit it. I couldn't possibly handle the cold weather. I doubt if I could get a visa either. And I have actually retired from English teaching.

I don't think I mind could handle starting over with listening to yet another new language. As it is, I have been sorting out Chinese, Taiwanese, Hakka, and Cantonese for 20 years and I even suspect that the visual processing in my brain centers have been permanently realligned due the constant review of thousands of Chinese characters.

But living Scandanavian countries seem to have a certain panache that living in Asia does not.

I am beginning to suspect that after nine months of winter, Heater has just gotten caught up in the Scandinavian spring and is frolicking through the wildwood with a Finnish goddess.

Lucky boy... if that is the case.

The is no Chinese mafia.. it is all Triads and benevolent associations.
