Cheap Bluetooth modules

I've just acquired one of these bluetooth modules via eBay. I wondered if anyone else had played with these?

It binds with the PC and, if TX is connected to RX, echoes back in the Serial Terminal. No joy when connected to the Prop

(SimpleSerial, FullDuplexSerial (and all modes) tried; 5K pull-up and pull-down resistor also tried).

Buy cheap - buy twice!

it may need 5v for power, in which case add a 4k7 between prop rx and module tx

(I searched for Bluetooth modules, etc., before I posted but didn't come across Bill'sthread - I do wonder about the Search sometimes...)

I just got one of these modules. Do you mean it will not work on the prop whith 3.3V power? Articles say it will. I am not getting it to work on 3.3V. Does it actually need the 5 volt and resistors with the prop?

The module needs to be powered by 5V

You can connect the Prop's TX to the modules RX

You must put a resistor between the Prop's RX and the modules TX, or you will fry the pin

Yes, you are right. Tried it with 5 Volt feed and it works even though the information says it will with 3.3V.

Well 5V almost worked. It was still intermittant. FOund out it was like other serial with the prop. It needs a pullup un the prop rx. The module only has about .9V on the tx line. With the pullup they work with 3.3V or 5V fine.
